The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun enforcement actions against 1,095 property titles recently revoked due to owners’ failure to pay mandatory land charges.

The development was announced on Friday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

According to the statement, the affected properties—located in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse—were sanctioned after repeated warnings and multiple public notices went unheeded.

“The general public, especially property owners in the FCT, is hereby informed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has authorized the commencement of enforcement actions on a total of 1,095 properties in the Federal Capital City due to various payment defaults,” Olayinka stated.

Of the revoked titles, 835 were linked to ground rent defaults, while 260 involved violations relating to land use conversion fees, penalties, or other charges.

The FCTA explained that from May to November 2025, it issued several notices through newspapers, online platforms, and television broadcasts urging defaulters to settle outstanding bills or risk revocation.

“Despite numerous publications asking defaulters to fulfill their obligations—including ground rent, Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills, violation penalties, and land use conversion fees—the listed property owners failed to comply,” the statement added.

The administration emphasized that the non-payment contravened Section 28(5)(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, as well as the conditions tied to the affected Rights of Occupancy.

Olayinka noted that the enforcement action followed the expiration of a final 14-day grace period on November 25, 2025.

“With the lapse of the fourteen-day final grace period on Tuesday, November 25, the FCTA will now proceed with enforcement on 835 properties that defaulted on ground rent and 260 properties that failed to settle violation and land use conversion fees,” he said.
