The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister Nyesom Wike has officially flagged off the construction of the 11km Kabusa-Takushara Access Road. This event marks another step in the FCT Administration’s commitment to improving connectivity and reducing congestion in Abuja’s satellite towns.
The flag-off ceremony, which took place amidst great anticipation, saw Wike emphasizing the importance of this project in line with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’. The minister assured residents and stakeholders of the government’s dedication to completing the road within the stipulated time frame, highlighting that funding would not be an issue for this project.
“The construction of this access road is not just about connectivity; it’s about giving hope back to the people. I am sure the people of Kabusa have lost hope before now. It’s also about opening up new opportunities for economic growth, reducing insecurity by improving access for security agencies, and ensuring that the rural areas are not left behind in our developmental strides,” Wike stated during the ceremony. He reiterated the administration’s focus on rural development, noting that such projects are essential for the overall progress of the FCT. He promised that all satellite towns will enjoy the same infrastructure as the main Abuja city.

The Kabusa-Takushara Access Road is expected to be completed in 6 months and will serve as a critical link, providing easier access between Kabusa and Takushara, thus benefiting local communities, farmers, and businesses by facilitating the transportation of goods and services. The road’s construction is also anticipated to contribute significantly to the security of the area by allowing better mobility for law enforcement.
This project is part of a series of infrastructural developments Wike has initiated since his appointment. Over the past week, he has been actively involved in flagging off multiple road projects and inspecting ongoing works across the FCT, demonstrating a hands-on approach to project management and execution.
Residents of Kabusa and Takushara expressed their gratitude and optimism about the new road, stating it would transform their daily lives. “This road was long overdue. Now, with this construction, we are hopeful for better times,” said a local resident who attended the flag-off event.
The construction of the Kabusa-Takushara Access Road is part of a broader initiative to revamp FCT’s road network, with Wike promising more flag-offs in the coming weeks, including roads in Bwari and Kwali Area Councils. This commitment to infrastructural development is seen as a cornerstone of the FCT’s strategy to manage urban expansion and enhance living conditions for all residents.
