The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 workers employed by the administration in 2016 and 2019.
The announcement was made by Emeka Ezeh in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Ezeh explained that the confirmed workers were among the 2,281 candidates who participated in the confirmation examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28.
According to him, a total of 2,512 workers were invited for the exercise, but only 2,281 appeared for the examination.
He revealed that 224 officers failed to show up for the test, raising suspicion that some of them might be ghost workers within the system.

Ezeh also noted that many of the workers who took part in the examination were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others were recruited shortly before Wike assumed office as FCT minister in August 2023.
The chairman added that the commission has concluded plans to conduct both the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises for workers, following approval from Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the move aligns with the president’s commitment to improving the welfare and motivation of workers in the administration.
Ezeh advised all affected workers to visit the commission’s official website to check the status of their confirmation.
