The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has appointed Mr. Sani Daura as his senior special assistant on protocol matters.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The statement said Daura is a career civil servant with over 30 years’ experience in the Protocol Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Daura, who was appointed Director of FCT Protocol in 2019, is expected to retire from the civil service on January 24, 2026, having attained the mandatory retirement age.

The statement noted that his appointment as senior special assistant on protocol matters will take effect from the date of his retirement from the civil service.
Wike’s decision to retain Daura in a political capacity was attributed to his “wealth of experience and institutional knowledge” in protocol management within the FCTA.
The appointment is part of ongoing efforts by the FCT minister to strengthen administrative efficiency and protocol coordination in the nation’s capital.
