A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Abdulrahman Mohammed has called an emergency meeting of the party’s national executive committee and board of trustees for Tuesday, raising fresh tension within the opposition party. The sessions are scheduled to hold at the PDP national secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, where members have been directed to attend without exception.

In a notice issued by Samuel Anyanwu, a close associate of Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike, the board of trustees is expected to meet at 11 a.m., while the NEC will convene at 2 p.m. The communication stressed that the meetings are compulsory, noting that important issues will be tabled for consideration.
The invitation signals the one hundred and third emergency NEC meeting of the party and comes at a time the PDP is grappling with renewed internal divisions and competing claims of legitimacy. It will be recalled that the Wike faction boycotted the National Convention in Ibadan.
