The Telegram-based game Catizen is gearing up for the much-anticipated launch of its CATI token on The Open Network (TON), scheduled for September 20th. But here’s the catch: out of 35.8 million players, less than half are currently eligible for the token airdrop.
On Tuesday, Catizen’s developer, Pluto Studio, revealed that only players who have reached the “Silver League” by accumulating enough in-game vKitty coins will qualify for the airdrop. This has left millions of players scrambling to increase their in-game rankings before time runs out.
According to Pluto Studio’s update, over 15.2 million players are on track to receive a share of the CATI token airdrop. However, the remaining 20 million players are stuck in the “Bronze League,” leaving them ineligible for rewards unless they can boost their performance in the game.
A post shared in the official Catizen Telegram community encourages players to take swift action: Grab this last moment to join in Catizen! The post comes with a graphic showing the distribution of players across leagues, underscoring the high stakes.
Here’s the breakdown; Silver League: Nearly 12.7 million players, Gold League: Over 2 million players, Platinum League:320,000 players, Diamond League: 76,000 players, Master League:108,000 players, Royal League:Only 10,505 players.
The top players in the Royal League are expected to receive the largest airdrops, but Pluto Studio has yet to reveal exact token allocations.
Catizen, a matching puzzle game built as a mini app within Telegram, allows players to match similar cats in a virtual cat café. The more cats you match, the more in-game currency you earn, which can eventually be converted into the upcoming CATI token.
This airdrop is set to be one of the largest events in the growing Telegram crypto gaming ecosystem. Earlier this year, the ecosystem saw the explosive success of *Notcoin*, a tap-to-earn game that attracted 35 million players and became one of the biggest gaming token launches of the year.
While excitement builds for the CATI token drop, questions loom about whether The Open Network can handle the potential surge in demand. The network experienced downtime in late August, raising concerns about its capacity to support large-scale airdrops like this one.
As the CATI token launch approaches, players have a limited window to qualify for a piece of the action. Are you in line for the drop, or still trying to climb the ranks?
