Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that his team’s prospects of defeating Real Madrid in their Champions League match on Wednesday are at “one per cent.”
In the first leg of their play-off last week, City experienced a 3-2 loss at home after initially leading 2-1 with only four minutes remaining.
Guardiola remarked that “the chances of securing a victory at the Bernabeu from that situation are widely understood; the likelihood of progressing is reduced to one percent. Whether it is that or something even lower, the margin is negligible.”
He added that “nonetheless, we will certainly make every effort to seize any opportunity, as we always have. However, this season has illustrated that we are significantly behind.”

“We have been really, really poor in performances and results this season.”
City go to Spain buoyed by a 4-0 win over Newcastle in the Premier League, which kept them on course for a return to the Champions League even if this season’s campaign ends on Wednesday.
“For one game, Saturday, we played really good, but it’s not going to change the opinion, the reality. But, of course, it’s better to travel to Madrid with this result,” added the City manager.
