The Nigeria Police Force has announced significant achievements in its ongoing efforts to combat crime across the country.

During a press briefing at the Force Intelligence Department and Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) headquarters on January 22, 2025, the Force highlighted several milestones in the fight against armed robbery, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police have arrested 179 armed robbery suspects, 100 kidnapping suspects, 152 murder/homicide suspects, and 34 individuals involved in the unlawful possession of prohibited firearms. Additionally, 77 rape suspects, 110 suspected cultists, and several others have been apprehended.

The police also recovered 73 firearms, 310 rounds of ammunition, 56 stolen vehicles, and rescued 22 kidnapping victims.

Among the notable arrests was that of a gang led by Muhammed Kabir, 36, along with Donald Okpere and Haruna Ibrahim, who impersonated military personnel to defraud victims of millions of naira. The gang used fake bank alerts to purchase gadgets and medical equipment.

In another operation, officers apprehended Sunday Okwo Ade, Monday Solomon, David Emmanuel, and Shakiru Badmus, members of a gang notorious for stealing motorcycles from farmers in Lagos and Ogun states. Police recovered 15 stolen motorcycles during the operation.

“Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring justice is served. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure environment for citizens to carry out their daily activities peacefully,” he said.

The police called on the public to support their efforts by providing timely and actionable information about criminal activities.
