The Nigerian Export Promotion Council has assured Nigerian Exporters of its readiness in ensuring that they are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge, tools and procedures that will enable them to compete effectively in the global market.
Speaking in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the Executive Director/CEO, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mrs. Nonye Ayeni stated that export readiness is not just about producing quality goods, it is about compliance documentation and alignment with international trade standards.
Ayeni stated this during a “technical session on strengthening trade documentation and adherence to importing country requirements.”
She said “that the programme came at a time when Nigeria’s non-oil export sector continues to record commendable programme”
Ayeni who was represented by Mr. Idongesit Essien, state Coordinator NEPC Akwa Ibom State coordinating office reveals that the NEPC, as a lead agency for the promotion of non-oil export is also scaling up effort to promote awareness and training on international market requirement and also drive the operationalisation of the export trade house.

She further stated that the NEPC will continue to ” deepen collaboration with regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC, SON ,Nigerian Customs Services and others to streamline compliance and also support Exporters to adopt traceability , proper labeling , packaging and documentation standards that meet destination market criteria”.
According to her, the organisation’s focus is to ensure that Nigeria exporters move beyond local success, to global competitiveness and its ongoing programmes such as Zero to Export, Export Mentorship Programme, cluster formation and the Go Global Go certificate initiative will continue to build a robust foundation for SMES and emerging exporters to thrive.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Akwa Ibom State Coordinating Office, in his welcome address stated that the council,in its campaign on the #Doubleyourexports initiative, has developed strategic initiative to remedy rejection and boost non-oil exports, enhance foreign exchange earnings and drive economic growth and diversifications.
He further stated “this workshop is therefore designed to provide you with the essential information on export documentation, product labeling, quality assurance and regulatory compliance with knowledge and adherence to best practices. We can lower rejection rate and help Akwa Ibom Exporters compete effectively in global markets”.
