Voters stranded as INEC officials fail to arrive at Kubwa polling units By Nicholas Ojo Residents of Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were left stranded on Saturday morning as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to arrive at several polling units hours after the scheduled commencement of voting. When our correspondent visited polling centres at PW Maroko 005 and 033, as well as parts of Phase 4, voters who had arrived as early as 7am were seen waiting anxiously without any sign of electoral officials or materials. At about 9am, voting had yet to commence in the affected polling units, with residents expressing frustration over the delay. Some voters waited under makeshift shelters and by the roadside, visibly agitated as the morning progressed without updates from INEC. “As you can see, we have not seen any INEC officials here at Polling Units 033 and 005, and this is already 9am,” a voter, Nurat Usman, told our correspondent. APC, PDP agents absent in nearly all Kubwa wards The situation created uncertainty about the conduct of the exercise in the area, as voters called on INEC to urgently deploy officials and materials to ensure the smooth commencement of the process.
