Angry villagers have protested after the tragic deaths of a Catholic choirmaster, as well as a father, and his son in Benue State.
The incident took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, when armed herdsmen attacked the Achakpa community in Makurdi Local Government Area.
The attack happened early in the morning near where the villagers were working in their farms.
According to witnesses, the victims, Tor Felafa, his son, Peter, and Francis Kulegwa, the choirmaster, were ambushed as they tended to their fields.
Sadly, several other people were kidnapped during the attack, and many others managed to escape, though some remain unaccounted for.

In response to the violence, hundreds of villagers blocked the busy Makurdi–Abuja highway, carrying placards and branches, chanting songs, and demanding justice.
They prevented traffic from moving, which left many travelers stranded. One of them, Melody Ede, noted that the villagers insisted the state governor must come to speak with them.
The police confirmed that the killings took place but did not provide more details about the situation.
The community is expressing its anger and frustration in hopes of getting answers and protection from future attacks.
