Gunmen have abducted the Village Head of Dnako in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Etsu Yuda Garba, alongside his two grandchildren, and five other residents of the community.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, at around 12:03 am, said a resident, Mr. Tanko Baba, who confirmed the incident.
Baba disclosed that the kidnappers, armed with AK-47 rifles, with some of them dressed in military uniforms, raided four houses, abducting five people before heading to the village head’s residence.
There, they seized the traditional ruler, and his sleeping grandchildren, identified as Ephraim and Philemon.
Among those kidnapped is a man named Nicholas, who had just returned from the hospital, where his wife had given birth.
“Mr. Nicholas, who is my cousin, had just come back from the hospital where his wife delivered a baby when he ran into the kidnappers,” Baba narrated.

The attackers reportedly operated for nearly 30 minutes before firing sporadic gunshots as they fled the community.
Soldiers arrived at the village after the kidnappers had escaped, and security personnel were still in pursuit of the assailants at the time of this report.
A police source in Bwari, confirmed the incident, but directed inquiries to the FCT Police Command.
However, attempts to reach the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, proved abortive.
Bwari Area Council has witnessed repeated attacks by bandits, prompting residents to appeal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for urgent intervention to curb the rising insecurity in the area.
