Victor Boniface, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker for Leverkusen, is heading back to Bayer Leverkusen today after medical issues halted his potential transfer to AC Milan.
The Nigerian forward underwent a series of examinations at the La Madonnina clinic and Galeazzi Hospital in Milan over the last 48 hours but was sent back to Germany without approval from the Serie A club.
The delay is thought to be related to his injury history, which includes two previous cruciate ligament tears during his time at Bodø/Glimt in 2019, as well as ongoing muscle problems, leading Milan to take a cautious stance.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Sunday, stating that Boniface’s medical evaluations did not meet Milan’s strict criteria, and further assessments are still needed.
Romano noted, “After undergoing medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface is returning to Germany, as there is still no approval for his transfer.

“After spending 48 hours in Milan, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today, awaiting AC Milan’s upcoming decision regarding the medical evaluations conducted over the weekend.”
The proposed transfer, currently being negotiated between Milan and Leverkusen, involves a €5 million loan fee and a €24 million option to buy.
However, the club’s reluctance highlights the importance of medical assessments in today’s high-stakes transfer market, where a player’s health can significantly impact the success or failure of a multi-million-euro deal.
