Controversial social media activist and influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), escalated his advocacy efforts on Monday by staging a dramatic protest outside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister’s office in Abuja.
The protest is aimed at bringing attention to the ongoing strike by primary school teachers in the FCT.
The teachers’ strike, which commenced on March 24, 2025, has now stretched beyond 90 days, fueled by frustrations over the apparent inaction of area council chairmen regarding the implementation of the ₦70,000 national minimum wage.
Primary school teachers in the FCT have expressed deep dissatisfaction with the non-payment of the minimum wage, stating that the failure to address their compensation threatens the quality of education for countless children.
In a symbolic move, VDM arrived at the protest site dressed in a traditional school uniform, joined by a group of enthusiastic children clad in identical attires.
Together, they transformed the space in front of the minister’s office into an impromptu classroom.
As the makeshift class session commenced, VDM took the lead, engaging the children in a recitation of the alphabet infused with pointed political commentary.
“S for suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” he declared, prompting the gathered children to chime in rhythmically, blending learning with a critique of political figures perceived as contributing to the educational woes.

The demonstration quickly captivated public attention, drawing onlookers and raising awareness about the struggles faced by primary school teachers and pupils alike.
However, when approached by journalists for comments, VDM maintained a resolute silence, emphasising instead the impact of the protest.
“The minister’s gate is now the new classroom for the children.” His refusal to speak further emphasised his focus on the symbolic nature of the demonstration rather than any personal agenda.
In the course of the protest, the children were treated to a special meal provided by VDM and his supporters, further illustrating the community spirit and care involved in the event.
This gesture also served to ensure the children remained energetic and engaged throughout the afternoon.
