The oil rich and agrarian Uzere Community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday, elected a new executive to run the affairs of the community for the next one year.
The election was presided by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Pat Ajudua, Mrs. Kevwe Agas, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs and the Special Adviser on Peace and Conflict Resolution to the Governor of Delta State, Chief Edwin Uzor.
Addressing the delegates, Mrs. Ajudua assured the delegates that the election will be free and fair and urged then to vote for the candidates of their choice.
She emphasized that the election of the incoming executive is for one year to complete the tenure of the impeached Sunny Eke- led executive.

The commissioner commended the people of Uzere community for organizing themselves for the smooth conduct of the community’s election.
Meanwhile, in a keenly contested election for the position of the President General of the community Mr. Raphael Oderewou, ex-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Isoko South Local Government Area came out victorious with 163 votes, while his closest rival, Mr. Sunny Eke polled 7 votes.
Other elected members of the new executive are Mr. Edafemako Salvation Agbaka, Chairman, Mr. Solomon Ogueri, Secretary, Mr. Matthew Ogbe, assistant secretary, Mr. Governor Emamuzo Odenu, Financial Secretary, Mr. Raphael Akpebe, Treasurer, Mr. Akpotu Oguname sub-treasurer, Mr. Stanley Oko, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Eloho Irogbo, Legal Adviser, Mr. Obi Samuel, Auditor and Mr. Oghenururie Okpai, Provost.
In his post election speech, the new President Genera Mr. Raphael Oderewou promised to carry every member of the community along, to ensure that Uzere attains its right of place in the committee of clans in Isoko nation and beyond.
