The University of Jos has announced the postponement of examinations earlier scheduled for Monday and Tuesday following the deadly attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, who said the directive came from the Vice Chancellor in response to rising security concerns.

According to the statement, the rescheduling of the examinations became necessary due to the tension generated by the Sunday night attack by gunmen on residents of Angwan Rukuba.

“The Vice Chancellor has directed that all examinations scheduled to be held on Monday and Tuesday will be rescheduled,” Madugu said, noting that a new timetable would be communicated in due course.

He urged both staff and students to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary movement within and around the university environment, given the prevailing security situation.

Students were also advised to promptly report any suspicious activity or security breaches to the institution’s security unit for immediate action.

The development follows the attack on Angwan Rukuba, which authorities confirmed led to multiple casualties and injuries, further heightening tensions across affected communities.
In response to the incident, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area as part of efforts to restore order and prevent further violence.

The situation continues to raise concerns among residents and stakeholders, with calls for sustained security measures to safeguard lives and property in the region.
