The United States Embassy in Abuja and its Consulate General’s office in Lagos, will be closed today, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day.
The United States Mission in Nigeria, made the announcement in a statement posted on the Mission’s official X (formerly Twitter) page on Sunday.
It said that normal operations will resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
“The United States Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos, will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 18, 2025,” the statement read.

Presidents’ Day, observed annually on the third Monday of February, is a federal holiday in the United States.
Originally designated as Washington’s Birthday, the holiday was established to honour the nation’s first president, George Washington, who was born on February 22, 1732.
Over time, it has come to recognize all past U.S. presidents.
