Professor Offiong outlined the university’s strategic priorities, which include strengthening academic excellence, advancing research and innovation, improving student welfare, and enhancing human capital development. He added that the institution is also focused on revenue generation, infrastructure expansion, transparent governance, and the adoption of ICT-driven processes.

He further emphasised the importance of community engagement, international partnerships, environmental sustainability, and the protection of lives and property within the university system.

On institutional challenges, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged concerns surrounding admission processes, employment practices, examinations, and certification, noting that these issues have affected public perception. He assured that the university is committed to addressing such challenges and restoring its standing as a leading institution.

The 38th convocation ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries, academics, and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond.
