A Nigerian female correctional officer serving with the United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Olukemi Ibikunle, has been named the recipient of the 2025 UN Trailblazer Award for Women Justice and Corrections Officers.
The award, now in its third year, recognises the exceptional contributions of women in justice and corrections roles within UN peace operations.

According to the statement from UN House in Abuja, the ceremony would take place on Wednesday (today) at the UN Headquarters in New York, where the award will be presented by the UN deputy secretary-general.
The event would feature remarks from several high-level officials, including Margaret Satterthwaite, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, Amy Jarrette, Deputy Commissioner for Women of Correctional Service Canada, and representatives from the permanent missions of member states.
