United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer says it is not a simple task to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but he is “working with allies” on a viable plan.
He announced a £53m package to support people exposed to rising heating oil prices, after costs soared in response to the war in Iran.
This comes after Donald Trump said it would be “very bad for the future of NATO” if allies don’t help secure the critical waterway for global oil shipping.

In an interview with the Financial Times, the US president says he expects China to help unblock the strait and could delay a summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping if it doesn’t.
Meanwhile, Israel says it has begun “limited and targeted ground operations” against Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
