Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Jaro Egbo, on Thursday presented the 2025 budget estimate of N17, 605, 816, 542.12 to the council’s Legislative House for confirmation and approval.
Speaking at the event, Egbo described the budget, tagged: “Budget of meaningful development,” as a tool for progress, focusing on infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, sustainable health programmes, and internal revenue improvement.
He gave the budget breakdown to include, recurrent expenditure of N12.2 billion, overhead costs, N4.19 billion, personnel emoluments, N8.01 billion, while capital expenditure was put at N5.4 billion.
He explained that the capital expenditure would be used for meaningful and people-oriented projects across the 20 wards of the local government.
The chairman underscored the need to broaden the local government’s revenue base by blocking financial leakages and improving internally generated revenue.
He assured that due process, transparency, and accountability would guide the implementation of the budget to ensure effective service delivery.

Egbo also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth and women empowerment as a strategy to reduce unemployment and crime. He further stressed the importance of peace and security to protect lives and property in the area.
He expressed appreciation for the cordial working relations between the executive and legislative arms of the local government, and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to fulfill the administration’s development agenda in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Handing over a copy of the budget estimates to the Legislative House, Egbo urged councilors to approve the budget and pass it into an appropriation bye-law, assuring them of his administration’s dedication to the welfare of the people.
He further called for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders to drive Ughelli North Local Government Area towards greater socio-economic development.
