Leaders and stakehoders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, in Evwreni on Friday, June 6, 2025, reaffirmed their loyalty and support to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as well as the state and national leadership of the party.
The meeting, described as the most inclusive since members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the APC, was convened to consolidate party ranks, welcome new members, and chart a united path towards future electoral victories.
Hosted by the APC founding leader in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the event culminated in a unanimous vote of confidence on President Tinubu and Gov. Oborevwori, a bipartisan endorsement reflecting the changing political dynamics in the state.
The confidence vote was proposed by Prof. Sam Ibodje and seconded by Samuel Marierie, drawing resounding agreement from all APC leaders present.
Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, hailed the meeting as a watershed moment for both Ughelli North and the state at large.

“This is a new dawn for Ughelli North politics. Unity has replaced violence, and everyone has a voice in this party,” Sobotie declared.
He emphasized that the APC operates on meritocracy, where contributions outweigh tenure. “Whether you’ve been here for years or days, what matters is your impact,” the chairman said.
Sobotie also highlighted the peaceful conduct of the event, interpreting it as a sign of divine favour, adding that “this atmosphere of peace is not ordinary. It’s evidence that God is with this party.”
Olorogun Emerhor stressed the national implications of the unity effort and expressed regret over President Tinubu’s underperformance in Delta during the 2023 presidential election.
However, he praised the president’s continued support for the state, saying that the “president Tinubu didn’t turn his back on us. He sees Delta as part of his home, and this unity movement has his blessing.”
He also extended appreciation to Gov. Oborevwori for fostering political stability in the state, noting that the APC has emerged from a period of crisis into an era of collective purpose and clarity.
“We are no longer fragmented. We now speak with one voice,” Emerhor said.
Several new entrants into the APC also delivered goodwill messages, pledging commitment to the party’s growth.
Elder Terry Noah commended Emerhor’s role in building the APC in Delta State, while Chief George Oyefie and Onoriode Aguofure, affirmed their full integration and dedication to the party’s success.
The highlight of the event was the adoption of a detailed eight-point communiqué designed to guide the APC’s operations and foster continued unity in Ughelli North and across Delta State.
