Commercial and social activities were at a complete halt yesterday by indigenes and residents of Ughelli, in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, as His Royal Majesty, Wilson Ojarkovo Oharisi III, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom marked his 30th anniversary on the throne with a thanksgiving service.
The event which was held at the Ughelli Township Stadium saw dignitaries and royalties from all parts of the country extolling the virtues of the monarch and the great Ughelli Kingdom.
Speaking during the event the Ovie of Ughelli said the event was a significant milestone in his life and the Ughelli Kingdom, noting that he has every reason to be grateful to God having only cheated death about two years ago.
He prayed for God’s continued peace and prosperity for the kingdom and appreciated the people of the kingdom as well as all who came to grace the occasion, adding that God should extend his blessings upon their lives and Kingdoms, The Trumpet gathered.
According to him, “I want to thank God for taking care of me, my wife and children, mostly our church leaders and the chiefs and the people of Ughelli Kingdom for standing by me. When you ask God to forgive you your sins if there are any, God will hear your prayers.”
The officiating minister at the thanksgiving service, Rt. Rev. Cyril Odutemu, the Archbishop of Bendel Province, Nigerian Anglican Communion, said it was worthy to celebrate the faithfulness of God on the life of the king, noting that his 30 years on the throne had brought about peace, progress, prosperity and stability to the kingdom.
He also called for prayers for Nigeria and the leaders of the Nation, saying there was still hope for Nigeria to be great again.

In his remarks, the Delta State Chapter Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Kingsley Enakireri, said God had been faithful to the kingdom and has blessed the kingdom because the king had identified with Christ.
He advised the king to continue to serve and hold unto God in his continuous reign, urging the people of Ughelli to continue to support the monarch to take the kingdom to greater heights.
Also extolling the virtues of the monarch, the President General of Ughelli Descendants Union (UDU), Chief Pius Omobaye described him as a great king that is loved by both his subjects and residents in the kingdom.
He said, “you can see for yourself, the crowd of persons, both dignitaries and royalties that have come to celebrate with our king and the Ughelli Kingdom today. It is a testimony of his great personality.
“We thank God for his life and I want to pray on behalf of the people of Ughelli, that God should continue to keep him in sound health and wisdom so that he will continue to lead this great Kingdom to greater heights.
