The United States Embassy in Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to simplifying the visa application process for Nigerians, promising more transparency and a streamlined system.
This statement was made on Friday, October 18, 2024, via the Embassy’s verified social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
On August 26, 2024, the U.S. Mission launched a new visa appointment system in Nigeria, one of the first countries in the world to implement this upgrade.
The initiative aims to make it easier for applicants to secure appointments at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate in Lagos, enhancing the overall visa application experience.
Despite the improved system, challenges have persisted, leaving some applicants frustrated.
However, while the Embassy acknowledged the issues, it expressed regret for the inconvenience caused, noting that many of the initial problems have been resolved, with ongoing efforts to address the remaining ones.
“We are working diligently to ensure that all our applicants will soon see improved processing,” the statement read. The Embassy emphasized that it anticipates smoother and faster services as the transition is completed.
The U.S. government urged visa applicants to seek assistance with applications, online scheduling, and passport services by visiting the Amentum Contact Center. The Embassy continues to provide a full range of consular services in both Abuja and Lagos during the transition period.
Additionally, applicants are encouraged to provide feedback on services through the Visa Navigator on the Embassy’s website, as the U.S. Mission remains committed to maintaining high standards of customer service.
