The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two applicants participating in the ongoing police constable recruitment screening in Bauchi State for allegedly presenting forged examination results.
The suspects were apprehended at the Police Training School Bauchi during the verification exercise conducted as part of the nationwide recruitment of new police constables.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, Superintendent Nafiu Habib.
According to Habib, the screening exercise was led by A.Y. Dickson, who headed the recruitment team overseeing the process at the training facility.
He explained that a total of 403 candidates participated in the screening, including 354 applicants for general duty and 49 specialist candidates.
During the document verification stage, two applicants were discovered to have submitted forged results purportedly issued by the National Examinations Council.
Police authorities said both suspects bore the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had reportedly been moving together throughout the screening process before their documents were flagged as fraudulent.
“The team screened 354 General Duty and 49 Specialists, making a total of 403 candidates. Two candidates were arrested with forged NECO results, both named Yusuf Usman, and they were moving together throughout the process,” the statement said.
