The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) and the Nigeria Police Force, successfully rescued two female victims of a viral kidnap video, eight suspects have been apprehended in Ghana and Nigeria.
The video, which spread rapidly on social media, showed one of the victims being attacked with a machete while she was naked, causing public outrage and prompting urgent action from law enforcement.
The kidnappers released additional videos showing one of the women, both clothed and unclothed.
On Friday morning, May 2, 2025, the Ghana Police announced that the two victims had been rescued and that eight people had been arrested in connection with the kidnapping. These arrests took place in various locations in both Ghana and Nigeria.
One of the main suspects, Okoribe Olohitare Ejeme, a female staff member at the Port Harcourt International Airport’s security team was arrested on Thursday. This operation was a result of cooperation between the Ghana Police, the NSB, and the Nigerian Police.

In their statement, the Ghana Police emphasized the collaborative effort: “The Ghana Police Service, in partnership with the National Signals Bureau and the Nigerian Police Force, has rescued the two women who were kidnapped and featured in a viral video. So far, eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime across both countries. More information will be provided later.”
The police also expressed gratitude for the support they received in this operation.
One of the victims, 39-year-old Ama Serwaa Konadu, is known as a hairdresser and event decorator in Asiakwa, a town in the Eastern Region of Ghana. She was kidnapped on April 22, 2025, after leaving home for work. Her captors sent distressing videos of her to her family using her own phone, demanding a ransom of GH₵500,000 for her release. In these videos, she appeared very traumatized and showed signs of being attacked.
Ama’s family promptly reported her kidnapping to the Ghana Police and other security agencies, who immediately began an investigation with help from their counterparts in Nigeria.
