The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), on Tuesday, picketed the Federal Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja, over unpaid arrears of allowances, delayed emoluments, and other financial entitlements of staff.
The union members were said to have arrived at the premises early Tuesday morning, determined to make their voices heard.
They blocked the main entrance to the ministry, effectively preventing access to the building for both staff and visitors.
Clad in red garments symbolic of solidarity and protest, the demonstrators carried flags and chanted slogans demanding the immediate release of their entitlements.

The protesters displayed a variety of placards, bearing bold inscriptions such as “Don’t suffocate the poor”, “Pay us now”, “Let the poor breathe”, “Stop the delay,” and several others.
The messages conveyed a deep sense of frustration and disappointment over what the protesting staff described as the government’s continued neglect of its obligations to its workforce.
Although union leaders and many of the demonstrators declined to speak directly to the media, the messages on the placards and the scale of the action reflected their dissatisfaction with the status quo.
The protest reportedly disrupted operations at the ministry, as staff were unable to enter the building.
As at the time of this report, the ministry was yet to release any official statement in responding to the protest.
