The honour was conferred by the Ovie of Aviara Kingdom, Michael Efeareduo Ebobo, during a grand ceremony at the royal palace in Aviara. The occasion drew an array of traditional rulers, political figures, and key stakeholders from across Delta South and neighbouring areas.

In his remarks, the monarch described the recognition as a tribute to the senator’s unwavering commitment to public service, his dedication to the welfare of his people, and his active role in the 10th National Assembly.

He added that the title reflects the kingdom’s pride in one of its distinguished sons and reinforces the deep bond between the senator and the Aviara community.

Reacting to the development, the Editor-in-Chief of The Trumpet Newspaper, Obah Sylva, speaking on behalf of the organisation, praised Senator Thomas for his exemplary leadership.

He described the lawmaker as “a leader who consistently puts his people first before himself, a God-fearing personality, and a vibrant senator who speaks without fear or favour during legislative sittings for the betterment of his constituents.”

The EIC noted that the honour was well deserved, pointing to the senator’s strong grassroots connection, advocacy efforts, and sustained commitment to development across Isoko nation and Delta South.

The conferment highlights Senator Thomas’ growing influence in the region, particularly through his legislative interventions and community-focused initiatives.

Attendees at the ceremony commended his accessibility and responsiveness to his constituents’ needs, describing him as a bridge between governance and the grassroots.

The colourful event featured rich cultural displays, traditional rites, and performances that showcased the heritage of Aviara Kingdom. The atmosphere was marked by celebration and pride, as guests acknowledged the significance of the honour.

The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages from political associates, traditional leaders, and community members, all of whom lauded the senator’s contributions to public service.

For the people of Aviara Kingdom, the conferment of the Olodi title is widely seen as both a reward for excellence and a reaffirmation of their confidence in Senator Thomas’ leadership and vision for continued development.
