President Donald Trump announced that the United States will govern Venezuela until a “proper transition” occurs.
On January 3, the U.S. conducted strikes against the nation and apprehended Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
Trump stated that they were taken from a fortified residence and will be brought to New York, noting that there were a few injuries but no deaths on their side.

According to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Maduro has been indicted in New York on drug and weapons charges, and he will “face the full force of American justice on American soil in American courts.”
In response, Venezuela declared a national emergency, condemning what it described as “extremely serious military aggression.”
Trump remarked, “We will manage the country until a safe, proper, and careful transition can be made. We want to avoid a situation where someone else ends up in the same predicament.”
