United States President Donald Trump on Saturday attended a solemn military ceremony marking the return of the bodies of the first six American soldiers killed in the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
The dignified transfer ceremony took place at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, the military facility where the remains of American service members who die in overseas operations are traditionally returned to the United States.
Trump, wearing a white “USA” baseball cap and accompanied by several members of his cabinet, stood in silence as each flag-draped casket was carried from a military transport aircraft. The former president saluted as the fallen soldiers were received with full military honours.
The six troops were killed last Sunday after a drone strike hit a key United States command centre in Kuwait. The attack occurred just one day after the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military campaign targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
Their deaths represent the first confirmed American military casualties since hostilities intensified in the ongoing confrontation involving Washington, Tel Aviv and Tehran.
The incident has further heightened tensions across the Middle East, where military activity has increased sharply in recent days.

Meanwhile, the United States government has condemned Iran over another drone strike carried out earlier this week near the border of Azerbaijan.
According to the United States Department of State, the drone strike targeted an airport and a school in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region, an area that shares a border with Iran. Several civilians were reported injured in the attack.
Washington described the strike as an unnecessary escalation during an already volatile regional conflict.
State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the attack violated Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and warned that the United States would not tolerate aggression against its allies.
Pigott said the United States remains committed to supporting its partners in the region and would respond firmly to any threats directed at them.
The developments come as the widening conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran continues to raise fears of a broader Middle East war with global security implications.
