Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, following a swift operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the rescue operation was launched after troops received a distress call that Adamu had been abducted while sleeping outside his residence.
Acting promptly on the information provided by local residents, troops mobilized to the area and pursued the kidnappers. Upon realizing that soldiers were closing in, the abductors abandoned their victim and fled into nearby bushes. The victim was later reunited with his family without any ransom paid.
In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters on patrol around Maraban Kunini in the same local government area arrested a 30-year-old suspected kidnapper identified as Lalau Adamu, believed to have been involved in the abduction.

Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops, vigilantes, and hunters for their swift response and effective coordination, which led to the successful rescue.
He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to help sustain peace and security across Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while pledging to intensify operations to eliminate banditry and other criminal activities in Taraba and neighboring states.
