Troops, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have successfully rescued six abducted people and intercepted herds of cattle that had been stolen by bandits in Kebbi State.
A statement issued by the Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, Abdulrahman Zagga, indicated that the victims and the stolen cattle were from the Kokanawa and Ukuhu communities in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.
Zagga noted that the operation was conducted under the orders of Governor Nasir Idris, following reports of the incident.
“The security team tracked the bandits to the Zamfara River area, where they rescued the victims and recovered the stolen cattle.
“The bandits escaped during the operation, and the rescued individuals have been reunited with their families,” Zagga stated.

He expressed gratitude to the governor for his ongoing support to security agencies, emphasising that the governor’s commitment to establishing a security base would lead to positive outcomes in the Zuru Emirate.
Zagga also praised the security personnel for their dedication and courage.
“I would like to extend my special thanks to the governor for his steadfast commitment to tackling security issues throughout the state, particularly in Zuru Emirate and Lakurawa in Argungu Emirate.
“I also want to thank our brave security forces who work tirelessly around the clock to ensure the safety of Kebbi State,” the director added.
