Troops of Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have killed more than 18 terrorists in a series of coordinated dawn offensives in Borno State, dealing a fresh blow to insurgent networks operating in the North-East.

The successful operations took place at Bula Dalo and the notorious Garno terrorist camp, according to a statement by the Media Information Officer at the Headquarters of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.

He said troops launched a surprise early-morning assault on terrorist positions in Bula Dalo, overwhelming the fighters and neutralising over 12 of them after an intense engagement. The surviving terrorists were forced to flee in disarray, abandoning several weapons at the scene. Items recovered include four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one rocket-propelled grenade launcher and one multiple grenade launcher.

In a follow-up operation targeting the Garno camp, troops sustained the momentum, killing six more terrorists and dismantling key logistics and support structures within the enclave. The operation also led to the seizure of a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition, further degrading the group’s fighting capability.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba also disclosed that on January 29, 2025, troops of Sector 2 OPHK at Sabon Gari came under attack by ISWAP terrorists, who deployed several armed drones in an attempt to breach defensive positions. Although the attackers briefly penetrated part of the defence line, troops swiftly reorganised, repelled the assault and fully regained control of the area with timely reinforcements from neighbouring units.

He noted that the encounter claimed the lives of some gallant troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, while an excavator and a lowbed truck were damaged during the drone attack. He described their sacrifice as a testament to the resolve of security forces and local partners in defending their communities.

Security operations in the area remain ongoing, with troops maintaining pressure to restrict terrorist movements and prevent regrouping. The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive actions aimed at restoring peace and stability across the North-East.
