According to the acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division and Sector 2 of ‘Operation Fansan Yamma’, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the operation achieved “significant operational success” after engaging a notorious terrorist group linked to the Lakurawa Terrorists in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
He stated that “the operation was launched based on reliable intelligence that indicated over 100 terrorists had gathered deep within Kadam Forest to plan attacks and kidnappings of local communities, intending to transport their victims to their strongholds.
“Acting promptly on this information, troops were deployed to intercept the terrorists. The resulting firefight was intense and prolonged.
“When the terrorists attempted to flank from the rear, the troops responded with superior firepower, effectively neutralizing the threat and maintaining tactical control throughout the encounter.
“Follow-up operations in the forest confirmed the elimination of three terrorists, with several others likely injured by gunfire during their retreat.
