Troops of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ have neutralized a suspected bandit during a precision operation in Taraba State.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday, by the acting brigade spokesperson, Captain Oni Olubodunde.
The brigade said the operation carried out on May 3, 2025, near Gafar Village in Ussa Local Government Area, targeted a known transit route for criminal elements involved in regional attacks and thefts.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of one bandit.
An AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle allegedly stolen from a civilian were recovered at the scene.

In a separate mission in Bali Local Government Area, troops also disrupted the movement of suspected bandits believed to be advancing from Tongo and Garin Alkali in Adamawa State toward the Shana community.
The suspects were said to have been pursued into Yunkunssu Forest, where a heavy exchange of gunfire ensued, forcing the criminals to flee.
Recovered from the encounter were a locally fabricated revolver, an AK-47 magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
“These successful operations underscore the commitment of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke to ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens in Taraba State,” said Capt. Olubodunde.
He also urged residents to support ongoing military efforts by providing timely and credible information that could help eliminate criminal threats in the area.
