Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have killed 10 insurgents and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a night operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State, the military said on Sunday.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, the engagement followed an earlier encounter at Katarko where more than 50 terrorists were neutralized.
Troops from Sector 1 of the 24 Task Force Brigade reportedly foiled an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis late on Saturday night.
The insurgents, after suffering initial losses, attempted to regroup and divert toward Dikwa but were ambushed and overpowered along the Dikwa–Marte road.
“At about 23:50 hours on October 25, while maintaining a pre-established ambush position, troops identified and engaged the hostile elements,” the statement read. “Heavy and accurate suppressive fire forced the insurgents to retreat in disarray.”

A clearance operation conducted at first light confirmed the deaths of 10 insurgents and led to the recovery of several weapons, including five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally made guns, and two fabricated pistols.
Other recovered items included five AK-47 magazines loaded with 7.62mm rounds, boxes of ammunition, two motorcycles, two bicycles, a radio set, and assorted personal effects such as charms, a raincoat, and a blanket.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their “gallantry, vigilance, and tactical proficiency,” describing the operation as further evidence of ongoing successes in counter-insurgency efforts across the North East.
Operation Hadin Kai reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations to protect civilians and restore lasting peace and stability in the region.
