Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have dismantled a suspected gun running syndicate in southern Taraba State, arresting two suspects and seizing firearms and other items during a raid in Wukari Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by soldiers from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari, followed credible intelligence on the activities of arms dealers in Byepi Village along Tsukundi Road.
In a statement issued on Friday in Jalingo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Brigade, Captain Olubodunde Oni, identified the suspects as 55-year-old Buba Idi and 29-year-old Isiyaka Yusufa.
“A tactical operation led to their arrest, and subsequent searches uncovered one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, sixteen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, and a Bajaj motorcycle,” the statement read.

The suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary investigation.
Commander of the Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and professional action, describing the operation as part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and enhance security across Taraba State.
He reassured residents of the Brigade’s determination to dismantle criminal networks and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support proactive security measures.
