Troops of 3 Division under ‘Operation Safe Haven’ in Plateau State have killed two kidnap suspects, arrested three others, while rescuing a mother and her daughter during separate operations in Plateau State.
On February 24, 2025, the troops acting on credible intelligence stormed Kwok Village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, and captured a notorious kidnap suspect.
The sting operation was conducted under ‘Operation Golden Peace’ was based on information earlier provided by another kidnap suspect, on February 22, 2025, during an operation at Lugere Sho Village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.
“The arrested suspects are making useful confessions in custody, including their past criminal activities that led to one of them sustaining gunshot wounds in the past.
“They confessed to participating in multiple kidnappings in Plateau and Nasarawa States. The suspects have also mentioned some of their cohorts hibernating in different parts of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“Troops are currently conducting follow-up operations to intercept and capture the remaining members of the criminal syndicate,” the military said..
Similarly, on February 23, 2025, troops received information about the kidnapping of a woman, and her daughter at Gindiri Town in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In response, troops mobilised, pursued and made contact with the kidnappers on the outskirts of Gindiri Town, and during an exchange of fire, troops neutralised two of the kidnappers, and captured one other kidnapper who was fatally injured.
The troops successfully, rescued the victims unhurt and they were subsequently, evacuated to the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Gindiri branch for first aid before reuniting them with their families.
The troops are currently dominating the general area, to boost the confidence of the locals.
