In a coordinated operation involving land, maritime, and air assets, troops of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ neutralized Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists that attempted to invade the naval base located at Lake Chad in the early hours of today.

This was communicated via the army’s official X handle on June 18, 2025.

According to the post, the attack began around 2 am, with the militants aiming to take over newly acquired vehicles meant for clearing waterways in the Lake Chad area.

“The terrorists launched their attack, hoping to seize these important resources, but faced strong resistance from the soldiers at the naval base.

“Reinforcements quickly arrived from a nearby outpost, leading to an intense battle that lasted more than two hours.

“Despite their aggressive attempts, the insurgents could not break through the defenses protecting the vehicles and ended up retreating after suffering heavy losses,” the army revealed in the post.

The army revealed in the post that during the gunfight, several terrorists were neutralized, and important materials related to homemade explosives were seized, preventing the militants from carrying out further attacks.

“While the clash led to the destruction of an ambulance and two vehicles, injuries among the soldiers were minimal, highlighting the effectiveness of their defense.

“Following the failed attack, air force units were sent in to patrol the waterways, aiming to further disrupt the terrorists’ activities,” the post said.
