Troops of the 6 Brigade in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, have captured two suspected terrorists, retrieving weapons and ammunition in a quick and well-coordinated operation that effectively disrupted a planned bandit attack in southern Taraba State.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday by the acting Assistant Director of the 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni.
“Personnel from 6 Brigade, Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke responded to credible intelligence regarding an impending terrorist attack on some villages.
“Upon receiving actionable intelligence, troops on December 11, 2024, swiftly launched a series of aggressive patrols, ambushes, and covert operations to prevent the attack.
“These efforts led to the arrest of two accused terrorists, Terry Waapara and Tobaya Tekura, in Adu village,” Oni stated.

He added that the suspects were apprehended while attempting to infiltrate the Chachanji Market with the goal of carrying out illicit operations, including kidnapping.
During the raid, soldiers retrieved two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The suspects are currently in custody and being investigated to learn more about their network and planned operations.
The Commander of the 6th Brigade, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, praised the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and prompt response, which contributed to the operation’s success.
He also praised law-abiding residents for their assistance in providing accurate and timely information, emphasising the importance of teamwork in maintaining regional peace and security.
