The army has confirmed that its troops killed two suspects linked to the murder of four soldiers during a protection mission in Rivers State.
Spokesman for the army’s 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Lt. Col. Danjuma Danjuma, in a statement on Tuesday, stated that the suspects were eliminated during a raid on their hideout in Kalaogbokolo, Ahoada West Local Government Area.
He said that the operation was prompted by credible intelligence indicating the suspects’ return to the community.
On December 12, 2023, the gang had attacked the soldiers, killing four and abducting two Korean expatriates from Daewoo Nigeria Limited.
During the raid, two suspects were captured but were shot after attempting to flee into the bush.
