Troops of the 6 Brigade operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke and Operation Zafin Wuta have arrested a man believed to be a key figure in a kidnap ring active in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State. The suspect, identified as Umar Musa Geyi, was picked up on 22 November 2025 in the Jandei–Kulamu area after intelligence reports indicated he was negotiating a N20 million ransom with relatives of an abducted victim.
The Army spokesperson, Lieutenant Umar Mohammed, said Geyi had long been on the radar of security agencies. Investigators now link him to the abduction of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of Jandei–Kulala, who was taken on 13 November and remains in captivity. According to the Army, the suspect was intercepted during a phone conversation in which he allegedly confirmed that the victim was still being held and insisted on a N20 million payment.

The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised his men for their work and restated the Brigade’s resolve to break the networks behind the recent wave of kidnappings in the state.
