The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced the capture of Abubakar Bawa Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, a notorious terrorist leader wanted for numerous killings and kidnappings across Sokoto State. Dogo, a high-priority target for both Nigerian and Niger Republic security agencies, was apprehended by troops in Rumji Village, Illela Local Government Area (LGA).
Major-General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the arrest and emphasized Dogo’s cross-border criminal activities, making him a prime target on both nations’ watch lists.
In related operations, Nigerian troops also conducted sweeping raids in the South-East, capturing seven key commanders and operatives linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN). Among those arrested were Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha, also known as “Chapet,” in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, along with Mrs. Ngozi Chukwuka and Mr. Oyekachi Ohia in Umuahia South LGA, Abia State.

According to Major-General Buba, recent operations resulted in the neutralization of 187 terrorists and the arrest of 311 criminals, including those involved in oil theft. Furthermore, troops rescued 147 kidnapped victims, dealing a heavy blow to criminal networks.
