Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ have arrested two suspects and seized a large cache of illegal weapons during a raid in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, conducted in Gayama Village following credible intelligence, targeted suspected criminal hideouts.
Arrested were Haruna Samari and Dantala Mamman, who were found in possession of various arms and ammunition.
Items recovered include, one submachine gun, a loaded submachine gun magazine containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an empty case of 7.62mm special ammunition, two fabricated rifles, three single-barrel guns, three Dane guns, five live cartridges, four empty cartridge cases, a Beofeng radio, and a helmet.

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation, according to a statement issued Saturday night in Jalingo by the brigade’s acting spokesperson, Capt. Oni Olubodunde.
Commending the troops for their swift action, the Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, reaffirmed the military’s resolve to maintain peace and security in Taraba State.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security efforts.
The raid, the statement said highlights ongoing operations to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and enhance safety across the state.
