The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of an unidentified man suspected to have been electrocuted while attempting to vandalize a transformer at the Borno State University, Maiduguri.
A statement issued by the command said preliminary investigations suggest the deceased was tampering with electrical installations when he suffered a fatal electric shock.
The body, according to the command, has since been evacuated from the scene in collaboration with the Borno State Fire Service and taken to a medical facility for proper procedures.

Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, condemned the act and issued a stern warning to criminal elements engaging in vandalism and sabotage.
He emphasized that such activities not only endanger lives but also compromise critical public infrastructure and safety.
The command assured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly around public utilities, to the nearest police station.
