In a renewed effort to strengthen its longstanding partnership with the media, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on Friday, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council at its secretariat in Abuja.
The high-level visit was led by Betty Aguiyi-Ironsi, Commercial Director of Transcorp Hilton, and Ijeoma Osuji, the hotel’s E-Commerce Manager, both trailblazers as the first women to hold their respective positions at the iconic hospitality brand.
During the visit, Aguiyi-Ironsi reaffirmed the hotel’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with the media, acknowledging journalists as indispensable players in national development.
“We are here to appreciate the media and pledge to continue our strategic relationship with the NUJ-FCT. Your efforts in giving us the visibility we deserve cannot be taken for granted,” she said.
She hailed journalists as frontline workers, stressing that their watchdog role remains crucial to societal growth.
On her part, Ijeoma Osuji expressed gratitude for the continued support from the NUJ-FCT, noting that much of Transcorp Hilton’s relevance in the public sphere stems from positive media coverage.
“We value all our media partners. The NUJ-FCT has been instrumental in helping us remain visible and relevant,” she added.
The Chairman of the NUJ-FCT, Comrade Grace Ike, welcomed the delegation warmly and described the visit as “a step in the right direction.”
She lauded the two women executives for their leadership and described their visit as a major boost for media-hotel relations in the FCT.
“I want to appreciate Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, for graciously hosting our 2025 NUJ-FCT Press Week public lecture. The hotel is a true partner in promoting media excellence and development journalism,” she said.
She called for the revival of the Hilton’s annual cocktail party, which she described as a cherished tradition that brought together journalists and senior editors to unwind after a year of intensive reporting.
“We look forward to more collaborations and hope the annual cocktail party for journalists will return. It was always a moment of celebration and reflection for FCT journalists,” she noted.
