A dangerous and illegal car race on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos early Sunday morning resulted in the death of two people.
The crash involved luxury vehicles like Mercedes and Lexus, and it occurred after a concert featuring Seyi Vibez.
The incident has sparked widespread anger on X about reckless driving and the lack of proper law enforcement on the bridge, which is 11.8 kilometers long.
Many are now calling for more police patrols and speed cameras to help prevent similar accidents in the future.
One commenter, @weyimi, stated that “it’s so sad that innocent people lost their lives. Why are people treating highways like race tracks?
“Speeding is not fun when you’re not a professional racer. This tragedy could have been avoided, and it shows irresponsibility that costs lives.”

@_svuflower added that “it’s really frustrating and heartbreaking. Just imagine going about your day, and someone else’s careless behaviour harms you.”
@Omolabalq remarked that “there’s a clear lack of regard for safety on our roads. If people don’t value their own lives, how can we expect them to care about others?”
@Buddin_Rapunzel pointed out that “no matter what car you drive or how skilled you think you are, racing should only happen on tracks, not on public roads. It’s selfish to risk the lives of others for a thrill.”
@iam_Ekiokwu said: “While some of these points are valid, it’s just plain silly to race on any road in Nigeria. If you value your life, just drive safely.”
