The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, for allegedly killing her co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, by dousing her with hot water during a domestic dispute.

The incident, which took place on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area, escalated into tragedy when Asiyah sustained severe burns and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025, at approximately 9:00 AM.

Confirming the arrest, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, revealed that Rukayyah Amadu has been taken into custody and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further interrogation. He disclosed that during questioning, Rukayyah confessed to the crime, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the deadly altercation.

As the tragic case unfolds, another horrifying incident has rocked Jigawa State. In Warware Quarters, Hadejia Local Government Area, a newlywed woman, 22-year-old Zainab Ibrahim, was discovered in a pool of blood in her matrimonial home. When the police arrived at the scene, they found a deep gash on her throat.

Zainab was immediately rushed to General Hospital Hadejia, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Authorities have since launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.

Meanwhile, the discovery of a mutilated, headless corpse of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, has sent shockwaves through Gwaram Local Government Area. The boy’s remains were found along Jikas-Dabaja village after he had been reported missing for two days.

Relatives identified the body, and police suspect ritualists may be behind the gruesome killing. Investigations are underway as security forces intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the heinous crime.

The Jigawa State Police Command has reassured the public of its commitment to thoroughly investigating these disturbing cases, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The wave of violence has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for swift justice for the victims and stricter measures to curb rising crime rates in the state.
