Motorists using the Asokoro–AYA axis of Abuja are advised to seek alternative routes on Friday, as the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced a joint route march involving the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other traffic management authorities issued the advisory following confirmation from the DHQ that the exercise will take place in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, the march will commence at 5:00 a.m. from the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment football field, move through Mambilla Barracks, and return via Niger Barracks. He explained that the event is part of a routine fitness and unity exercise designed to promote physical well-being, teamwork, and camaraderie among military and security personnel stationed in the Federal Capital Territory.
Gusau reassured residents that adequate traffic arrangements have been made to minimize disruptions, urging commuters to cooperate with security officials and obey diversion signs throughout the duration of the exercise.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate the understanding of the public as we carry out this important routine activity,” he said.
The DHQ also advised early morning travelers and workers heading toward Asokoro, AYA, and the surrounding areas to plan their movements in advance to avoid delays.
