The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has described the tax reforms of the Tinubu administration as the boldest change to the country’s financial system in years.
He made this announcement during a special lecture in Abuja, centered on Tinubu’s tax policies.
Dogara pointed out that Nigeria’s tax system has long been complicated and difficult to navigate, lacking the necessary political support for effective enforcement.
He expressed his belief that the upcoming tax reforms are essential for Nigeria’s future and praised the efforts of the House of Representatives Press Corps for organizing the lecture.
He emphasized the urgent need for the reforms, noting that by the time Tinubu took office, the nation was facing serious economic troubles, including a significant amount of money that had been printed, which negatively affected the value of the naira.
Dogara commended the president for taking immediate action to stabilize the economy and unify the exchange rate.
He described Tinubu as a dedicated leader who understands the importance of the changes for the nation’s prosperity.
